FMP Blog post 6 - Sketch models
I knew early on that the clay models would be difficult to make sketch models of, as the sketch model would end up being the same as the final model. Plus with the most detailed plans of all the buildings I chose, I was confident I understood the buildings well enough not to need them.
I did make sketch models of the permanent camping model and the majamajawurio shed model.
I actually made the permanent camping sketch model in 1:20 scale at first as I thought a large model would work well for the building, however after making it I realised that it was much too large, and so I made a second sketch model at half of that size in 1:50 scale which I much preferred.
I also made a sketch model of the majamajawurio landscape, in order to understand the topography and where the building would sit on the model.
I did not make a sketch model of the war memorial for the same reason as the clay models, after laser cutting all of the parts I may as well have made the final model, and with the building being such a simple shape and the plans and photographs being so detailed I did not feel the need to make one. I am also unsure that this model will be made for my FMP as I feel 4 models is already ambitious and I will not likely have time to make a 5th one.
